Many people know that uncontrolled eating can lead to obesity and diebetes. However, it can also lead to a disease called Fatty Liver disease. Fatty Liver is when, as the name implies, when there is too much fat in the liver. This entry will be focusing on the causes and symptoms of Fatty Liver in addition to prevention methods.
Main Symptoms:
Pain in upper right part of the abdomen
Weight loss
Yellow eyes and skin
Dark urine
Vomitting blood
Black stools
Main Causes:
Obesity (especially around the stomach area)
Having type 2 diabetes
High blood cholestrol or high triglycerides
Drinking too much alcohol
How to Treat/Prevent Fatty Liver Disease:
Following a healthy diet
Losing weight
Regularly exercising
Controlling blood sugar levels
Treating high cholesterol if present
Drink little to no alcohol
Quit smoking
Although it is less common and does not have a large impact in its early stages, if left untreated, it can eventually lead to liver inflammation which scars the liver. It can also lead to more serious liver diseases such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. Therefore, it is imperative especially for many people these days to stay active and maintain a healthy diet in order to prevent Fatty Liver disease in addition to obesity and diebetes.
