Heart disease is a leading cause of death, yet small dietary changes can reduce the risk. Simple changes in your diet can have a powerful impact on heart health over time. Also, they can enhance physical well-being and build a foundation for a healthier lifestyle.

Increase fiber intake

Why: High-fiber food can lower the cholesterol (LDL)l levels in the bloodstream. A high LDL may lead to the development of plaque in arteries which may lead to heart disease and strokes

How: Whole grains, vegetables, fruits

Reduce added sugars

Why: Too much sugar can lead to weight gain and increase the risk of diabetes. Diabetes is a major risk factor for heart disease

How: “Zero” drinks, cutting back on processed snacks and sugary desserts

Limit salt

Why: Excess sodium from salts can lead to higher blood pressure, increasing the tension on the heart

How: Choose fresh food over processed foods. Try seasoning with herbs rather than salt

These small, incremental changes make a big impact over time, and they're adaptable to any lifestyle, making heart health more accessible to everyone.
