Health equity is the concept of ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity to achieve their highest level of health. Achieving health equity requires action from everyone, including individuals and organizations. 


Health equity = recognizing disparities due to social, economic, and environmental factors

  • Improvement of environmental conditions ex. Hygiene, housing

  • Cultural understanding


Individuals

  • Educating yourself and friends - understand health equity

  • Supporting public health policies - voting for leaders that prioritize health equity

  • Volunteering - community health campaigns, food banks, shelters

  • Supporting healthcare workers - donating or sending supplies

  • Promoting awareness - reposting educational content on health


Organizations 

  • Creating healthcare programs

  • Partnering with community orgs

  • Advocating for policy change

  • Increasing healthcare budget for employees


Health equity cannot be achieved by just healthcare providers. It requires the attention and actions from individuals and organizations. Understanding the concept of health equity is vital to achieving it
